BEC考試由教育部考試中心和英國劍橋*地方考試委員會(huì )合作，于1993年起舉辦。該考試是一項水平考試，根據商務(wù)工作的需要，從聽(tīng)、說(shuō)、讀、寫(xiě)四個(gè)方面對考生在商務(wù)和一般生活環(huán)境下使用英語(yǔ)的能力進(jìn)行全面的考察，對成績(jì)合格者提供由英國劍橋*地方考試委員會(huì )頒發(fā)的標準統一的成績(jì)證書(shū)。該證書(shū)在英國、英聯(lián)邦各國及歐洲大多數*的商業(yè)企業(yè)*獲得認可。該考試由英國劍橋*地方考試委員會(huì )負責命題，頒發(fā)證書(shū)。*教育部考試中心負責組織考試、閱卷。
