　　and之后的一句話(huà)：perhaps never before has it served so much to connect different peoples and nations as in the recent events in Europe. 這句話(huà)由于否定副詞never before置于句首引起部分倒裝，所以應該首先將其還原為正常語(yǔ)序：It perhaps has never served so much... to connect different peoples and nations是不定式結構做目的狀語(yǔ)。as in the recent events in Europe是as引導的比較狀語(yǔ)從句，這里也省略了主句提到的內容，補充完整是as it has served to connect different peoples and nations in the recent events in Europe.這句話(huà)的結構較前一句話(huà)相對復雜。
